(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has increased in popularity as leader of the commonwealth, with increasing discussion surrounding a possible 2024 presidential run.
According to The Washington Examiner, a recent survey showed that Younkin is the 22nd most popular governor in the nation with a 53% approval rating.
This is equal to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ approval rating. DeSantis is seen as the number one alternative candidate to former President Donald Trump.
“Republican Govs. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Glenn Youngkin of Virginia, two potential presidential prospects in 2024, both hold 53% approval ratings, though the Floridian’s standing has dropped slightly (from 56%) in the previous quarter,” noted the survey analysis.
The survey also covered Democratic governors who may challenge incumbent President Joe Biden.

Of the top 15 most popular governors in America, 13 are Republicans.
Youngkin’s approval rating is higher than his 2021 victory margin, where he beat former Gov. Terry McAuliffe 50.6% to 48.6%.
Youngkin has been recently been adding to his political team as he gears up for the fall elections and looks towards the 2024 elections more seriously.

Youngkin has had meetings with several GOP donors, and has received hefty donations.
The governor has played down any potential of a possible presidential race, only saying he “hopes to expand his national influence by lending his support to candidates nationwide heading into this year’s midterm elections,” Just the News reported.
