Jill Biden Mocked for Complaining about Husband’s Unpopularity

'That really is interesting. She's basically saying the presidency is kind of over and there is no hope...'

(Headline USA) First Lady Jill Biden was pilloried by conservative critics for complaining this week about her husband’s unpopularity and lamenting the unrealized goals for his administration less than halfway through his first term, Fox News reported.

“He’s just had so many things thrown his way,” she said on Saturday.

“Who would have ever thought about what happened with Roe v. Wade? Well, maybe we saw it coming, but still we didn’t believe it,” she continued, adding that Joe had “so many hopes and plans for things he wanted to do.”

Former White House press secretary Dana Perino noted during the network’s popular primetime panel The Five that Jill Biden referred to her husband’s presidency in the past tense.

“That really is interesting. She’s basically saying the presidency is kind of over and there is no hope,” noted Perino. “There was no ‘but we’ve got this, and here’s what we’re going to do, and you’ve got to be with us.'”

Co-host Greg Gutfeld weighed in afterward, lampooning the Bidens’ expectation that leading a deeply divided country would be easy.

“Well, a jar of pickles would be great if there were no challenges,” Gutfeld observed.

He then cut to the core of Democrats’ duplicitous habit of complaining and focusing on frivolities when they are out of power, only to find themselves woefully unprepared to lead.

“During times of prosperity, it’s kind of an interesting thing… the left relies on Republicans to kind of keep things going so that they can chase the folly: the pronouns, the silliness,” Gutfeld said. “But now they have to put all their silliness on hold because all the real problems are falling apart under Joe, and they’re kind of upset by that.”

Jill Biden’s comments come as her own approval ratings sink to a new low.

A recent CNN/SSRS poll released on Monday found that the first lady’s favorability among U.S. adults dropped 24 points in one year. Now, only 34% of people approve of her, whereas 58% approved of her in 2021.

Her comments about Joe also follow a viral verbal mishap in which she compared the Hispanic community to tacos.

“Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community, as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio, is your strength,” she said at an event in Texas last week.
