NY Times Mocked for Cheerleading Blue-State Censorship

'There's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right... '

(Tony Sifert, Headline USA Conservatives have taken to Twitter to mock the New York Times for publishing an article describing Democrat efforts at silencing the Right as one of several battles in the Left’s “fight for truth.”

In their article, reporters Steven Lee Myers and Cecilia Kang attempted to draw an equivalence between blue state attempts to criminalize conservative speech as “disinformation,” and red state efforts to prevent Big Tech from doing the Left’s bidding.

The reporters’ partisan leanings are made clear, however, when they concede to the Left the expertise required to determine both what is true and false as well as what speech is “harmful.”

“In blue states, Democrats have focused more directly on the harm disinformation inflicts on society, including through false claims about elections or Covid and through racist or antisemitic material that has motivated violent attacks,” Myers and Kang wrote, as they admitted that free speech is no longer “politically untouchable.”

Perhaps the Times is not aware that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., — who sports bettors predict will be on the Democrat ticket in 2024 — has made the relevant distinctions between fact and fiction.

“There’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right,” AOC told Anderson Cooper in 2019, after one of her brazen lies was exposed.

Chief Washington Post fact-checker Glenn Kessler has also recently suggested that the Left’s lies are more true than the truth.

In a desperate attempt to defend President Biden’s cynical use of a debunked story about a 10-year-old girl who had to cross state lines for an abortion in the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs, Kessler argued that the story–though false–magically became the truth when it stumbled from Sleepy Joe’s lips.

“With news reports around the globe and now a presidential imprimatur, however, the story has acquired the status of a ‘fact’ no matter its provenance,” Kessler wrote. “If a rapist is ever charged, the fact finally would have more solid grounding.”
