BBC Faces Backlash for Woke Coverage, Staff Training

'People can self-identify themselves in over 150 ways, and increasing! ... '

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) The British Broadcasting Corporation received a backlash after using the phrase “pregnant people” in its news coverage of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, offering the latest evidence that woke madness has crossed the big pond.

Sophie Long, a presenter from BBC Radio 4’s The World Tonight, said that it will be “devastating” for women and “pregnant people” to know that they will not be able to get “care,” while being in an abortion clinic in Arkansas, according to Breitbart.

The clinical director and chair of the National Abortion Federation, Lori Williams, said knowing how many women and pregnant people would now not be able to get care was “devastating,” she said.

This is not the only time BBC showed its actual political agenda.

“In 1973, the court had ruled in Roe v. Wade that pregnant people were entitled to an abortion during the first three months of their pregnancy,” according to the BBC’s news website.

Instead of using the phrase “pregnant people,” the Roe v. Wade ruling used words like “mother” and woman,” Breitbart reported.

Helen Joyce, the director of advocacy for campaign group Sex Matters, criticized the woke language that BBC, a supposedly neutral broadcaster funded by taxpayers, used, according to the Daily Mail.

“Irrespective of where you stand on the abortion issue, we need clear, polite, unapologetic language about the reality of human existence and that’s man, woman, male and female,” she said.

After facing the backlash, BBC edited the article and a spokesman for the BBC said that Long was quoting someone else, while also adding that abortion is a “constitutional right.”

“We made clear in all our reporting that the overturning of Roe v. Wade ends the constitutional right to abortion for women in America,” a spokesman said.

“Sophie Long was quoting the language used by the chair of the National Abortion Federation. We have amended an online article.”

Another evidence of BBC’s wokeness run amok comes from The Telegraph, in a report noting that the BBC staff was told by the pro-transgender group “Global Butterflies” during their diversity training that there are more than 150 “genders” and instructed on how to use properly gendered pronouns properly.

“People can self-identify themselves in over 150 ways, and increasing!” they said.
