Plus-Size TikToker Blames Fat-Shaming Ranch for Depriving Her of Horseback Rides

'Not even the U.S. Army ever packed a mule heavier than this... '

(Pamela Cosel, Headline USA)  Oh, the entitlement that some people today have. Social media has heightened the exposure of such attitudes, and people who consider themselves “influencers” seem to convey the worst, at times.

One TikTok self-proclaimed star took to social media this week, griping that she was not allowed to ride a horse at a small stable because of her obese size.

Remi Bader weighs 240 pounds. Yet she still believed she was entitled to get on the horse, apparently not caring that it could harm the animal if she was allowed to ride, reported the Post Millennial. She was vacationing in the area and wanted to take a beachside horse ride.

Her post garnered more than 1.6 million views on her griping about Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk, New York.

Carrying that much weight on a horse’s back could potentially cause internal injuries, as well as damage a horse’s spine, one animal owner and horse trainer told Post Millennial.

“It’s good horsemanship on the part of the owners to keep a morbidly obese person off the horse,” said John Cardillo.

“This woman is morbidly obese, she has no place on the back of a horse just because she wants to feel good about herself. The ranch is 100 percent right, they’re looking out for their horses.”

Ironically, according to her social media accounts, Bader has a “paid partnership” with Amazon Fashion, touting her large size. That’s all well and good, and this issue is not about body-shaming. The issue at hand is the safety of the horse, and human obesity that is a dangerous health risk.

Dr. Deb Bennett who is connected to National Riding Stables Horse Rescue, told PM that “total weight of rider plus tack must not exceed 250 pounds. There is no horse alive, of any breed, any build, anywhere, that can go more than a few minutes with more weight on its back than this. Not even the U.S. Army ever packed a mule heavier than this.”
