NY Dems Seethe as Left-Slaying DeSantis Encroaches on Their Territory

'Having said that, we could not disagree more strongly with many of Ron DeSantis’ actions in office... '

(Dmytro “Henry” Aleksandrov, Headline USA) New York Democrats and LGBT activists met at Chelsea Piers New York City to protest and fret over Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, appearing at the leadership conference event on Sunday.

Democrats have been hating DeSantis since he signed an anti-grooming bill called Parental Rights in Education that restricts instructors in kindergarten through 3rd-grade to teach children about sexual orientation and gender identity.

When leftists realized DeSantis will visit New York City, they started to protest, taking to the streets and to Twitter. One of those disrupters was New York state Democrat Sen. Brad Hoylmann.

“As #LGBTQ elected officials we demand @ChelseaPiersNYC cancel the event with ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Florida Governor @RonDeSantisFL during #pridemonth2022 in Chelsea, the heart of our community,” Hoylmann tweeted.

The event was organized by a Jewish group called the Tikvah Fund, according to the New York Post, which noted that other New York City Democrat politicians attended the demonstration on Sunday.

“Local pols who attended the Sunday demonstration included US Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D- Upper East Side), State Sen. Brad Hoylman (D- Lower Manhattan), Assemblywoman Yuh-Line Niou (D- Chinatown), and Lt. Gov. contender Ana María Archila,” the Post reported.

Aside from protesting DeSantis signing the bill, the activists also said that the governor should not speak at the event during so-called Pride Month. Chelsea Piers expressed its opposition to the policies of Desantis, but still allowed him to speak at the event.

“Over the past 24 years, Pier Sixty has hosted hundreds of influential and notable events that span the spectrum of social and political issues. Pier Sixty has never controlled the content, program or speakers at these events.” the organization said in their statement on Twitter.

“Having said that, we could not disagree more strongly with many of Ron DeSantis’ actions in office. One response to abhorrent behavior is to counter it with positive action. Accordingly, Pier Sixty will direct every dollar it receives from Tikvah to groups that protect LGBTQ+ communities and foster and amplify productive debates about LGBTQ+ issues.”

However, while the demonstrators protest the Florida governor, regular Americans love DeSantis. Time magazine even put him on its “100 Most Influential People of 2022” list.

And according to the 2022 Western Conservative Summit in Colorado, 71% of surveyed people said that they would vote for DeSantis if he were to run for president in 2024.
