(Headline USA) A former Democrat Pennsylvania lawmaker pleaded guilty this week to extensive vote fraud in multiple state elections.
DOJ officials said that former Rep. Michael “Ozzie” Myers, 79, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to deprive voters of civil rights, bribery, obstruction of justice, falsification of voting records, and conspiring to vote illegally in a federal election, according to Fox News.
Myers allegedly orchestrated schemes from 2014 to 2018 to stuff ballot boxes in several states for specific Democrat candidates. He also admitted to bribing 39th Ward, 36th Division udge Domenick Demuro to turn a blind eye to the fraudulent efforts, according to the DOJ.
“Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy,” U.S. Attorney Jennifer Williams said in a statement.
“If even one vote has been illegally cast or if the integrity of just one election official is compromised, it diminishes faith in process. Votes are not things to be purchased and democracy is not for sale.”
Myers paid Demuro with payments ranging from $300 to $5,000 per election in exchange for Demuro adding fraudulent votes for Democrat candidates to the voting machine.
Myers also said he conspired to commit election fraud with 39th Ward, 2nd Division Judge Marie Beren, who was separately charged and pleaded guilty in October 2021. He allegedly drove her to the polling station to open the polls almost every Election Day and told her which candidates should receive fraudulent votes.
The Pennsylvania Democrat represented the state’s 1st congressional district from 1976 to 1980 until he was convicted of bribery charges and sentenced to three years in prison. He was caught accepting a $50,000 bribe from an undercover FBI agent who posed as an Arab sheikh interested in obtaining building permits and casino licenses in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
He was expelled from Congress in 1980 by a 376-30 vote.
