Biden Slammed for Wasting $40B on Ukraine While Ignoring School Safety

'There's no reason why we could give $40 billion away to Ukraine, and we can't protect our children in this country... '

(Headline USAThe father of a girl killed in the Parkland school shooting blasted the Biden administration for sending billions of dollars to foreign countries instead of spending that money on bolstering school safety.

Andrew Pollack made the comment in response to news about the Uvalde, Texas, school shooting, which left 19 children and two adults dead, and was “avoidable,” he said.

“There’s no reason why we could give $40 billion away to Ukraine, and we can’t protect our children in this country,” Pollack told Fox News, urging parents to get involved in their students’ schools.

“They need to go to their local school districts, get involved, see who’s on their school boards, and see if they’re taking school safety seriously,” he added.

Pollack lost his daughter, Meadow, in 2018 during the Parkland school shooting, and has been an advocate for increased school security ever since. He encouraged parents to get serious about the issue so that future mass shootings will be easier to prevent.

“Get involved with your communities, get involved with your local school board, and stay busy. Stay with your family,” he said.

“You’ve got to stay strong for the rest of your family, your kids. And that’s all I can tell them. I’m not going to be able to say to them what’s going to make them feel better, because there’s nothing I can do to make them feel better.”

The Federalist correspondent Tristan Justice agreed with Pollack and argued in a recent article that the federal government has had years to prepare schools and increase students’ safety. Instead, the Biden administration has focused on sending billions of dollars to Ukraine, he argued, and passing wasteful COVID-19 spending bills.

“None of the above was a serious upgrade in armed school security even though lawmakers protect themselves with the kind of resources denied to students,” Justice wrote.
