(John Ransom, Headline USA) The specter of the GOP retaking the majority in the House just became more dangerous to progressives with an ominous threat.
Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee warned Twitter to preserve its records on the bid by Elon Musk to take over the company, said the Epoch Times.
“As Congress continues to examine Big Tech and how to best protect Americans’ free speech rights, this letter serves as a formal request that you preserve all records and materials relating to Musk’s offer to purchase Twitter,” Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and the other Republicans told board members in the letters,” according to letters shared by the Epoch Times.
Musk recently unveiled a $46 billion financing package to support his proposed hostile takeover of Twitter, said the Wall Street Journal.
About 45 percent of the money would come from equity financing and 55 percent of the money would come out of debt financing by a bank to complete the acquisition, according to the Journal’s reported numbers.

Musk also registered several holding companies to incorporate the proposed takeover.
“Telsa is a publicly-traded company, and the investor base of Tesla and SpaceX and certainly Boring Company and Neuralink are quite different,” Musk explained about the new company registrations, according to Fox Business.
“It’s not that easy to sort of combine these things,” Musk added.
The GOP has long charged that Twitter is biased and its corporate policies against conservative thought and opinion, using it’s censorship ability to muzzle conservatives and to promote progressives.
If the Republicans were to take over the House in the November 2022 midterm elections, a Twitter investigation would likely be a front page story for conservatives that progressive media would try to either bury on the back page, or neglect to mention at all.
“Decisions regarding Twitter’s future governance will undoubtedly be consequential for public discourse in the United States and could give rise to renewed efforts to legislate in furtherance of preserving free expression online,” the GOP members of the House Judiciary Committee warned Twitter Board Chairman Bret Taylor, according to CNBC.
“Among other things, the Board’s reactions to Elon Musk’s offer to purchase Twitter, and outsider opposition to Musk’s role in Twitter’s future are concerning,” the letter added.
