Ukraine Invasion Stalls Durham’s Russia Hoax Investigation

'The officials preparing and reviewing the documents at the FBI and intelligence agencies are heavily engaged in matters related to Ukraine... '

(Alex Tien, Headline USA) It appears as those waiting for answers raised by an investigation of the debunked Russia Hoax will have to continue to wait.

The Justice Department and special prosecutor John Durham were set to produce a “large volume” of classified materials this week related to the Russia Hoax case against the main source for former UK spy Christopher Steele’s dossier.

Some of that material is expected to be made available as soon as this week; however, in a filing, Durham asked a federal judge in Virginia to extend the deadline on the production of the classified discovery. He cited Russia’s invasion of Ukraine as the reason for needing an extension.

The deadline was initially set for March 29, but now Durham has asked for a bump until May 13.

“To date, the government has produced over 60,000 documents in unclassified discovery,” Durham said in the filing submitted to federal court in the Eastern District of Virginia.

“A portion of these documents were originally marked ‘classified’ and the government has worked with the appropriate declassification authorities to produce the documents in an unclassified format,” he said.

Durham said that federal agents are currently busy with matters related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“However, recent world events in Ukraine have contributed to delays in the production of classified discovery,” Durham said.

“The officials preparing and reviewing the documents at the FBI and intelligence agencies are heavily engaged in matters related to Ukraine,” he added.

“Nevertheless, the government will produce a large volume of classified discovery this week and will continue its efforts to produce documents in classified discovery on a rolling basis, and no later than the proposed deadlines set forth below.”

The case revolves around two individuals. Igor Danchenko, a Russian researcher based in the United States, who in November was charged with five counts of making false statements to the FBI in 2017 about the information he provided to Steele, who produced the discredited dossier during the 2016 election, that was tied to the Clinton Cabal and the DNC.
