MSNBC Guest Says Hardest Part About SCOTUS Nominee Hearings Will Be Not Punching Republicans

'The biggest challenge is her not getting out of her chair and punching one of these fools in the mouth...'

(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) Elie Mystal, justice correspondent at The Nation and recent guest on MSNBC, said the hardest part of the upcoming hearings for the new Supreme Court nominee would be not punching Republicans in the mouth, The Daily Wire reported.

As a guest on Tiffany Cross’s show, “The Cross Connection,” Mystal argued that nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson’s credentials were excellent and Republicans will only sling “racist innuendo” at her.

Cross kicked off the segment by asking Mystal what he expected of the hearings, suggesting Republicans are in it for a “viral moment” to smear Judge Jackson.

“I’m curious, Elie, what do you anticipate to come out of these hearings? Because you know, they’re going to be vying for a viral moment on the Republican side,” Cross said. “And what would you say is the biggest challenge to Judge Jackson’s confirmation, if any, given that Democrats have the majority?”

“The biggest challenge is her not getting out of her chair and punching one of these fools in the mouth,” Mystal said. “Like, that’s the hardest thing, because all they have for her right now is racism and disgusting innuendo.”

Mystal continued, explaining that Judge Jackson had been on the court for many years.

“All they’ve got is the racism, they want to know about the LSAT scores. Some of them are going to call her an affirmative action nominee,” Mystal continued, referencing criticisms directed at President Joe Biden for his outright statement that he was going to choose a black woman.

“Some of them are going to ask her why she’s not sad that good white people weren’t considered for the job. That’s literally what they have.”

Mystal then addressed Senator Josh Hawley’s questioning of Jackson’s record in dealing with child pornography and sex offender cases, saying calling her “eminently qualified,” and recommending she “keeps her cool.”

The White House weakly reponsed to Sen. Hawley’s accusations of Judge Jackson, saying that they were “toxic and weakly-presented misinformation that relies on taking cherry-picked elements of her record out of context.”

Mystal also commented on these allegations earlier in the week, accusing Sen. Hawley of trying to get Jackson killed.
