(Jacob Bruns, Headline USA) A Fox News cameraman was killed and a Fox News journalist was injured and hospitalized while covering the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it was announced this week.
Pierre Zakrzewski, described as a veteran Fox News cameraman, died after being injured alongside Fox News journalist Benjamin Hall on Monday, the network reported.
“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news this morning regarding our beloved cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski,” Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement. “Pierre was killed in Horenka, outside of Kyiv, Ukraine.”
Fox News president Jay Wallace called Zakrzewski “a constant in all of our international coverage.”
“I, like countless others, always felt an extra sense of reassurance when arriving on the scene and seeing him with a camera in hand,” Wallace said. “The legacy of his positive spirit, boundless energy and eye for the story will carry on.”
Hall was injured and hospitalized in the same incident that took Zakrzewski’s life. Fox alerted its staff in a memo issued soon after the incident, before news of the double-tragedy of Zakrzewski broke Tuesday.

“Earlier today, our correspondent Benjamin Hall was injured while newsgathering outside of Kyiv in Ukraine,” the statement reads.
Fox News anchor John Roberts announced the tragedy to the general public on his TV show and noted that updates would be provided as soon as possible.
Strangely, the incident occurred in a civilian area and not a military facility.
“This man was not at a military facility, where according to Russian officials, they are constantly targeting. Not being at a military facility, he suffered serious injuries,” Smith added.
The attack on the Fox News journalists came just days after American photographer and videographer Brent Renaud was killed in Ukraine.
