(Molly Bruns, Headline USA) As one of the few actual journalists left in the White House press room, Fox News reporter Peter Doocy this week grilled White House obfuscater Jen Psaki over oil prices and the Biden administration’s continued reluctance to acknowledge that its failing policies have contributed to increasing pain at the pump.

“The president’s statement blames the Putin price hike,” Doocy said. “Are you guys just going to start blaming Putin for everything until the midterms?”
“Well, we’ve seen the price of gas go up at least $0.75 cents since President Putin lined up troops on the border of Ukraine,” Psaki responded.
“Last month the statement didn’t mention the Putin price hike,” Doocy countered. “It mentioned inflation because of the pandemic. Why’s that?”
Psaki responded in a condescending manner and avoided giving a real answer to the question:
“Well Peter,” she said. “The last two years there was a global pandemic. Everyone who is a global economist has agreed that that has been the biggest contributor to date of inflation because of the impact on the supply chain.”
Psaki did not comment on how former President Trump managed to keep gas prices at a manageable point for American families during the start of the pandemic.
Democrat politicians across the board have blamed rising oil prices on a variety of straw-men, including inflation, corporate greed and now Russia, while chastising anyone who recommends returning to American energy independence.
Doocy has sparred with Psaki on this topic as well, asking if there was any possibility for the Keystone XL pipeline being reopened for construction.
