(Headline USA) Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot went on an expletive-ridden rant against city staffers and residents who opposed her efforts to remove a statue of Christopher Columbus, according to a new lawsuit.
The lawsuit, filed by George Smyrniotis, the former deputy general counsel for the Chicago Park District, accuses Lightfoot of harassing him and ultimately forcing him to resign from his position.
Smyrniotis said he was working to resolve a different lawsuit filed by the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans, who wanted the city to return Columbus’s statue back to its display in Little Italy, when Lightfoot lashed out at him. He had proposed temporarily displaying the Columbus statue during the Christopher Columbus Day parade in the city, the lawsuit says, prompting an inappropriate and aggressive response from the mayor.
“You d***s, what the f*** were you thinking? You make some kind of secret agreement with Italians, what you are doing, you are out there measuring your d***s with the Italians seeing whose got the biggest d***, you are out there stroking your d***s over the Columbus statue, I am trying to keep Chicago Police officers from being shot and you are trying to get them shot,” she said, according to the lawsuit. “Where did you go to law school? Did you even go to law school? Do you even have a law license?”
“My d*** is bigger than yours and the Italians,” Lightfoot continued. “I have the biggest d*** in Chicago.”
Lightfoot also shot down Smyrniotis’s offer to temporarily display the Columbus statue, threatening to pull the permit for the Christopher Columbus parade if he moved forward with the plan.
Smyrniotis ended up resigning a few months later.
He is suing Lightfoot and the City of Chicago for more than $50,000 in damages.
