Dr. Anthony Fauci urged the public this week to cancel their New Year’s Eve plans because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“I have been telling people consistently that if you’re vaccinated and boosted and you have a family setting, in the home with family and relatives, it’s OK to gather,” Fauci told CNN. “But when you’re talking about a New Year’s Eve party, we have 30, 40, 50 people celebrating, you do not know the status of their vaccination, I would recommend strongly to stay away from that this year.”

After dropping his message of good times and merry cheer for the New Year, Fauci was roundly roasted on Twitter for trying to ruin another holiday.
“Fauci says to cancel New Year’s Eve parties, as millions struggle for normalcy nearly two years into pandemic,” one tweet said. “Two weeks to flatten the effin curve my ass!”
“Dr. Fauci this morning: no one should get together for New years Eve, even if fully vaxxed and boostered,” another added. “Can’t make this up. At the same time more doctors are coming out and saying Omicron showing NO symptoms and no hospitalization risk for vaccinated.”
Another tweet noted Fauci’s hypocrisy when it comes to parties.

Fauci had also urged Americans not to gather together for Christmas if they were going to be around unvaccinated family members. But he eventually walked back that statement, while still encouraging people to test themselves and even ask for proof of vaccination before Christmas parties.
“People should, if they invite people over their home, essentially ask and maybe require that people show evidence that they are vaccinated, or give their honest and good faith word that they have been vaccinated,” he said.

Although the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently loosened restrictions on COVID-positive persons, Fauci has been busy fearmongering about potential new lockdowns as the Omicron variant continues to spread.
“You want to be prepared to do anything and everything,” he said in November.
