Former Covington Catholic high school student Nicholas Sandmann announced this weekend that he has reached a settlement with another news organization he sued for defamation, this time with NBC Universal.
Sandmann, a 19-year-old, sued NBC after the publication falsely accused him of starting a confrontation with a Native American man named Nathan Phillips at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.
This is the third settlement he has reached. The other two were with CNN and the Washington Post.

Documents filed in a Kentucky federal court last week show that both parties agreed to dismiss the case without a judgement from the court, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Sandmann’s defamation lawsuit against NBC sought $275 million for damages done after the media company “unleashed its vast corporate wealth, influence, and power against Nicholas to falsely attack him despite the fact that at the time, he was a 16-year-old high school student,” the suit said.
Last year, he settled a similar $275 million lawsuit against CNN after the outlet “elevated false, heinous accusations of racist conduct” against Sandmann and disregarded “well-established journalistic standards and ethics” in its reporting.

Sandmann also settled a $250 million lawsuit against the Washington Post last year.
