Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., argued this week that the coronavirus pandemic is not about science or medicine, but about “conditioning” people to “submit to the government.”
“I don’t think it’s been about science for a long time,” Paul said during an interview with radio host Dan Bongino. “It’s really been about conditioning the American individual to submit to government. And you’re right, it never ends, the goalposts will continue to change. And ultimately, more and more of your healthcare will be controlled.”

Democrats like to claim the mantle of scientific authority, Paul continued, but they’re really just twisting the definition of science to justify their massive power-grabs.
“The danger is when you let science be controlled by government, or by one sort of monolithic individual like Fauci,” Paul said. “It really doesn’t have anything to do with science. Science usually discovers the truth eventually.”
The coronavirus pandemic is just one example of the government’s abuse of power, according to Paul. In October, he argued that Democratic officials’ refusal to crack down on crime and Attorney General Merrick Garland’s attempt to intimidate parents at local school board meetings are two more reasons the American people should fear their government, he said.
“Moms at school boards are being told that they’re criminals, potential domestic terrorists, for the crime of dissent, and I think criminalizing dissent is something that we should all be appalled with,” Paul said. “I think the problem is, it’s become so normalized to use government to search out and seek out your opponents.”
