Amazon has so far refused to remove a counterfeit book, Laptop from Hell, that his risen to become the No. 9 bestselling paperback while impersonating a New York Post journalist’s No. 1 bestselling exposé on her findings in Hunter Biden‘s laptop.
Miranda Devine, a journalist who has published in the New York Post since 2020, published Laptop from Hell: Hunter Biden, Big Tech, and the Dirty Secrets the President Tried to Hide on Nov. 30.
Devine’s book has received 47 reviews on Amazon, with an average 4.5 star rating. A hardcover copy sells for $19.25. It is 224 pages long.
The counterfeit book, simply titled Laptop from Hell, appeared on Amazon one day prior, under the fake author Miranda Devan. It is 124 pages long, reportedly double-spaced, and lacking citations and key details.
The fake book has received 12 reviews, with an average rating of 2 stars. Several of the 5-star reviews on Laptop from Hell seem intentionally ironic or intended to deceive.
Devine’s publisher, Post Hill Press, sought legal action three days ago, but Amazon has not removed the scam that has apparently tricked many buyers.
Shocking @amazon that you won’t remove this counterfeit of my book #LaptopFromHell. This defrauds customers – incl. a 91-yr-old – who are writing to me in disappointment having paid for a fake book which is #9 paperback bestseller. Like the corporate media’s cover-up of the Hunter Biden laptop scandal prior to the 2020 elections, the fraudulent book seems to aim at diluting Devine’s groundbreaking reporting.
One reviewer, Donna, gave the fake book a one-star review: “Counterfeit book. Not the real author and not the correct number of pages.”
Another reviewer, Tuck, warned future buyers: “CAVEAT EMPTOR [Buyer Beware]! Read the reviews, this is NOT the book you want! FAKE, COUNTERFEIT, VERY CHEAP! NOT THE AUTHOR, LOOK AT THE SPELLING!”
