Search Warrant Reveals Who Provided Ammo Used in ‘Rust’ Shooting

'Thell advised during the production there was training provided to the actors for live fire with firearms...'

A fourth search warrant issued in the investigation of the fatal shooting on the set of actor Alec Baldwin’s new movie, “Rust,” revealed that a local Santa Fe gun store provided the gun and ammo that was used to kill one and injure another.

PDQ Arm & Prop, a film prop supplier, supplied the “Rust” crew with its firearms, according to KOAT. One of the firearms was being used by Baldwin when he fired it and shot two people on set, killing a cinematographer.

The warrant reveals that Seth Kenney, who owns PDQ, contacted authorities immediately after the shooting and said the live rounds in Baldwin’s weapon may have come from “handmade reloaded rounds” a friend, identified as Hollywood armorer Thell Reed, had previously given him.

“In Thell’s statement, he advised in the August/September timeframe, he worked on a set with Seth Kenney,” the search warrant says, according to Fox News. “Thell advised during the production there was training provided to the actors for live fire with firearms, conducted on a firearms range. Thell said at this time, Seth requested he bring live ammunition in the event they ran out of what was supplied.”

Reed reportedly told authorities that Kenney requested the live ammunition from him.

However, Kenney has insisted his company only works with components of ammunition, not live ammunition.

Baldwin has insisted the shooting was an accident and has pushed for stricter rules on movie sets, including the increased presence of law enforcement on set.

“Every film/TV set that uses guns, fake or otherwise, should have a police officer on set, hired by the production, to specifically monitor weapons safety,” he tweeted.

Baldwin sat down for his first television interview since the shooting this week to reveal exactly what happened, according to ABC News.

“I’ve done thousands of interviews in my last 20 years at ABC, this was the most intense I’ve ever experienced,” host George Stephanopoulos said of his conversation with Baldwin. “[It was] so raw. He’s devastated. But he’s also very candid. He’s very forthcoming. He answered every question.”
