DeSantis Offers $5K Bonus to Police Officers Looking to Move to Florida

'You’re much better off in Florida because we’ll actually stand by law enforcement...'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis offered police officers in states where they face COVID-19 vaccine mandates a $5,000 bonus to relocate to his state.

“In Florida, not only are we going to want to protect the law enforcement and all the jobs, we are actively working to recruit out-of-state law enforcement because we do have needs in our police and sheriff’s departments,” DeSantis told Fox News.

The Republican said he plans to introduce and sign new legislation offering out-of-state police officers the bonus to relocate if they’ve been threatened with termination due to vaccine mandates.

He also slammed President Joe Biden for pressuring big businesses and state officials to mandate the vaccines, arguing the mandates have vilified essential workers that were hailed as heroes just months ago.

“These people we’ve been hailing as heroes, the nurses we’ve said have been heroes, this whole time they’ve been working day in and day out,” he said. “They couldn’t do their job on Zoom, they had to be there and they did it, and they did it with honor and integrity.”

Biden’s attempt to force vaccination upon American workers is “unconstitutional,” DeSantis said, adding that it is also wreaking economic “havoc” on several industries, especially the medical, law enforcement and transportation industries.

This is not the first time DeSantis has invited law enforcement officials from around the country to move to Florida. This past summer, when several leftist cities were pushing to defund local police departments, DeSantis urged police officers to move to Florida, vowing to value them and pay them well.

“If you have a chance to do law enforcement in Florida versus some of these other jurisdictions you’re much better off in Florida because we’ll actually stand by law enforcement,” he said.
