Jon Stewart Tells CNN It’s a ‘Mistake’ to Portray Trump as ‘Incredible Supervillain’

Trump has 'just been an effective vessel, but he's not singing new songs...'

According to leftist political commentator and part-time comedian Jon Stewart, the media has erred by focusing so heavily on former President Donald Trump, rather than those who voted for him, Fox News reported.

In his view, media outlets are “making a mistake” for crediting the former president for having changed the nature of American politics.

“I think we make a mistake focusing this all on Donald Trump, as if he’s … Magneto and some incredible supervillain that has changed the very nature and temperature of the U.S.,” Stewart said.

In Stewart’s opinion, Americans ought to recognize and hold accountable supporters of the former president as well.

He later suggested that the political Right’s obsession with power could be the undoing of American democracy.

“[Trump has] just been an effective vessel, but he’s not singing new songs,” Stewart said.

“… I think it’s a mistake to focus it all on this one individual and not to focus it more on the idea that power is its own reward whether it be in the financial industry or government,” he continued. “Power doesn’t cede itself, and unless we can figure out a better way to balance out that power … we’ll be vulnerable.”

The Left currently controls the White House and both branches of Congress but remains terrified that the policy failures of the Biden administration will lead to political accountability in the next midterm.

As a result, left-wing pundits and politicians have continuously pushed conspiracy theories about Q’Anon and Jan. 6 deplorables as means of deflecting away from the true source of outrage among Americans, which is the quasi-Marxist occupation of the country facilitated by wealthy blue-state elites to entrench their own base of power.

Stewart, who is promoting a new TV show, also offered a philosophical teaching on the nature of democracy, arguing that “the messiness of democracy is oftentimes one of its greatest weak points.”

The ex-Daily Show host then suggested that anybody who acts undemocratically—that is, anyone who supported Donald Trump—ought to be punished in a more thoroughgoing manner.

However, he suggested that leftists who acted in an extra-legal manner to oust Trump might have deserved a free pass for doing so since the ends justified the means.

“I think we all have a bit of a tendency to grant amnesty to people that are doing things that we would prefer, even if that means that they’re doing things that are slightly undemocratic,” he said.

In the end, he expressed hope for American “democracy” as he understands it.

“The encouraging thing,” he added, “is watching on a grassroots level, people that are really viewing it as something that they want to protect and that they want to strengthen.”
