Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, claimed on Monday that House Republicans’ efforts to oust Rep. Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., from her leadership position in the House caucus will cost the GOP voters.

Romney’s comments followed reports that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., set a vote to remove Cheney from her position as the caucus chair for Wednesday.
“If we are to succeed in stopping the radical Democratic agenda from destroying our country, these internal conflicts need to be resolved so as to not detract from the efforts of our collective team,” McCarthy wrote in a note to his colleagues on Monday. “Having heard from so many of you in recent days, it’s clear that we need to make a change. As such, you should anticipate a vote on recalling the Conference Chair this Wednesday.”
Frustration with Cheney has been growing among House Republicans, but it reached a tipping point last week when she once again slammed former president Donald Trump for griping about the 2020 presidential election.
Cheney’s complaints about Trump are out-of-touch with the GOP base, House Republicans said.
Many conservatives agreed and said Romney is also out-of-touch.
