As New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is investigated for imposing a disastrous policy that forced nursing homes to care for highly contagious coronavirus patients last year, he warned current unvaccinated New Yorkers that they need to practice “civic responsibility” and get the shot, or they could “wind up killing your grandmother.”
“My argument is, yeah, maybe you’ll be fine. And by the way, you don’t know that either. We’ve had a lot of young people who have died,” Cuomo said during a press conference Monday.
“Maybe you will get a long haul syndrome that we’re not really sure what it is yet, but a lingering consequence of COVID. Or maybe you go home and kiss your grandmother and wind up killing your grandma. So, show some civic responsibility,” he added.

His comments come as he is under federal investigation for his nursing home policy, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of senior citizens throughout New York, according to multiple reports.
His administration also deliberately withheld the true death toll from state and federal investigators, according to a recent report by the New York Times.
Conservatives pointed out the irony of Cuomo’s advice:
I mean, might as well get it from the leading expert on killing grandmothers ?♂️ https://t.co/mMTjNHBXhm

Can’t kiss your grandmother if Cuomo already killed her in a nursing home https://t.co/2OeD62hS97 pic.twitter.com/2DfrwHuXmM

And if that doesn’t work, Governor Cuomo will show up with a pillow https://t.co/70xLdcX1Xr
