Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., reportedly asked for police protection during her trip to Minnesota, where she encouraged Black Lives Matter protesters to get “more confrontational” if Derek Chauvin, the former police officer involved in the death of George Floyd, is not found guilty of murder.
Waters’ travel logs, published by Townhall, reveal she requested protection from the US Capitol Police for her trip from Washington, DC, to Minneapolis. She claimed to have a “moderate” risk factor that required an escort.
During the protest she attended, Waters told the crowd of protesters that they should accept only a guilty verdict in Chauvin’s trial, which was expected to adjourn this week.
“We’re looking to see if all of the talk that took place and has been taking place after they saw what happened to George Floyd,” she said.
“If nothing does not happen, then we know that we’ve got to not only stay in the street, but we’ve got to fight for justice,” she continued. “We gotta stay on the street, we’ve got to get more active, we’ve got to get more confrontational, we’ve got to make sure that they know that we mean business.”
A law enforcement source told the New York Post that Waters’ request for police protection only applied to her trip to Washington’s Dulles International Airport—not for her entire trip to Minneapolis.
However, given Waters’ frequent attacks on law enforcement, her request for their services was a bit ironic, as Republican critics pointed out:
Maxine Waters:
Defund the police!
Also Maxine Waters:
Requested a police escort while in Minneapolis.

This is classic. Maxine Waters flew to a community that is not her own, demanded the police who were already dealing with unrest provide her an escort, then used it to attack the police and call for further unrest. Then she flew home.https://t.co/sy8yoNtjrC
