Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of former president Donald Trump, continues to hint at a 2022 Senate run in her home state of North Carolina.
On Wednesday, the popular Trump family member teased fans on Fox News’ “Hannity” to “stay tuned” for her announcement.
The news came just over a week after South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham referred to her as the “future” of the Republican party.
During her “Hannity” interview, Lara also revealed several top North Carolina GOP leaders had reached out to her with support.
She said, “I’ve taken it very seriously and I have no decision to announce live here on Sean Hannity tonight. But I will tell you, stay tuned, because it is certainly something that I would be honored to do. So, I am keeping it open.”
Other topics included Donald Trump’s upcoming CPAC speaking appearance, as well as discussion regarding President Biden’s early blunders.
Lara Trump was quick to criticize Biden’s Keystone XL Pipeline shutdown by executive order, ending 11,000 American jobs, in contrast with the former president’s economic successes.
The reports of Mrs. Eric Trump considering a Senate run follow the controversial actions of current Republican Sen. Richard Burr.
He recently voted alongside Senate Democrats and six other Republicans to support Donald Trump’s second impeachment.
The North Carolina Republican Party censured Burr following his vote.
He also recently emerged unscathed following an ethics investigation in which he was accused of insider trading in the early days of the coronavirus pandemic.
Burr has already announced he will not seek reelection in 2022. Though Lara Trump’s name circulated earlier, momentum spiked following Burr’s decision.
In December one poll showed Lara Trump as the top potential Senate candidate in North Carolina, with 24 percent support.
