The Left’s fixation with former president Donald Trump has hardly faded in the wake of their second failed impeachment.
Although Trump was acquitted in both, House Democrats are now attempting to push through a bill that would ban him from burial at Arlington National Cemetery, the National Pulse reported.
The hallowed (and much coveted) federal plot in Virginia—just across the Potomac River from Washington, DC—marks final resting place of former president John F. Kennedy, as well as many other noteworthy leaders and military veterans.
It is unlikely that Trump, a staunch anti-war president and critic of the DC “Swamp,” would have any special interest in an Arlington interment given his affinity for Florida and longtime association with New York.
In fact, among the pre-election smears Democrats tried to assail him with was a baseless claim by anonymous sources that he had derided veterans as “suckers.”
But the petty No Glory For Hate Act seems more a symbolic flex of power to deprive Trump’s supporters of their ownership in the American tradition by the same radical leftists who have long sough to raze those traditions and deride the military.
The bill, written on Jan. 25 and currently making its way through five different House committees, would demand that the Defense secretary “not approve a determination of eligibility for interment or inurnment in Arlington National Cemetery … of any former President that has been twice impeached by the House of Representatives on or before the date of enactment of this Act.”
The specific language makes Trump the only person targeted by the wasteful partisan measure, leaving open even the possibility that future “twice impeached” presidents might qualify.
Among its advocates are Democrat Reps. Veronica Escobar of Texas, Grace Napolitano of California, Ruben Gallego of Arizona and Judy Chu of California.
It comes as Democrats, in the midst of an unprecedented totalitarian power grab after the highly disputed 2020 election grow paranoid that their reliance on force might backfire given the loyalty many in the military have for Trump and conservative principles.
The Biden administration and Democrat-controlled Congress have discussed ways of vetting and purging Trump loyalists from the military ranks, while Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has pursued ways of indoctrinating service members into the “woke” Marxist dogma by requiring “stand-down” discussions of social injustice and critical race theory.
The desperate bill also would try to ban any type of federally funded monuments to Trump, saying future administrations could not “create or display any symbol, monument, or statue commemorating any former President that has been twice impeached.”
That could potentially deprive federal funding for Florida’s U.S. 27, a highway that conservative lawmakers proposed, shortly before the House Democrats’ bill, to rename the President Donald J. Trump Memorial Highway.
