In response to the Biden administration’s decision to let United States embassies fly the LGBT Pride flag, Rep. Marjorie Greene, R-Ga., introduced a bill this week that would ban any other flag but the American flag from flying over its embassies.
“During my campaign for Congress, I promised that I would always put America First,” Greene said in a statement.
“That means that only the Stars and Stripes should fly over our embassies in foreign countries,” she continued. “President Biden’s State Department has already raised a flag over our embassies that doesn’t represent the vast majority of Americans.”
Greene cited past instances in which Democrats flew Black Lives Matter flags over government buildings, despite the fact that BLM activists “burned down our cities with the mission of defunding our police.”
“We should NOT be flying a flag of a group who wants to erase our history and bring mass destruction to our country through Communism,” she said.
Groups that hate the U.S. should not be given widespread recognition, Greene argued.
“The federal government should only be flying the flag that represents ALL people, the American flag,” she said.
“We need to bring back pride in our country and raise the Star Spangled Banner proudly,” she continued. “Old Glory represents our great American military and their sacrifices to ensure our freedom. This isn’t a political issue. This is about Patriotism, and we need more of it.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced last week that U.S. embassies are free to fly LGBT flags without first obtaining permission from the Biden administration. Other activist flags must still obtain prior approval.
“We’ve seen violence directed against LGBTQI people around the world increase,” Blinken said.
“We’ve seen, I believe, the highest number of murders of transgender people, particularly women of color, that we’ve seen ever,” he continued. “And so I think the United States playing the role that it should be playing in standing up for and defending the rights of LGBTQI people is something that the department is going to take on and take on immediately.”
LGBT activists and others on the left have long insinuated that the transgender women are being targeted for hate crimes. However, there is some evidence that lifestyle-based decisions, such as drugs and prostitution, may be more directly correlated with a recent uptick in murders.
The cultural destigmitization of transgenderism in some urban, high-crime areas may also suggest that there are simply more transgender victims than in the past.
