Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., claimed without evidence this week that the House Republican Caucus is full of “white supremacy sympathizers” who face “no consequences” for their support of violence and racism.
“This term, there are legitimate white supremacist sympathizers that sit at the heart and at the core of the Republican caucus in the House of Representatives, and when you see someone like the House Minority Leader, Kevin McCarthy of the Republican Party, respond to white supremacist vitriol coming with his own members not with censure like they did with Rep. Steve King of Iowa, not being stripped of committees, not with any consequence, you have to wonder who actually has that power,” she told MSNBC on Wednesday.

She went on to claim that Republican leadership in the House answers more to “these QAnon members of Congress, not the other way around.”
Though she did not name names, Ocasio-Cortez appeared to be referring to Rep. Marjorie Greene, R-Ga., who has been tagged as a believer in the QAnon conspiracy.
However, several reports confirm McCarthy has confronted Greene since she joined Congress.
Last week, he reportedly chastised her for introducing articles of impeachment against President Biden, arguing Republicans must be better than the Democrats.
And this week, McCarthy said he would have a “conversation” with Greene about several controversial social media posts she liked that indicated support for executing prominent Democratic politicians.
“These comments are deeply disturbing and Leader McCarthy plans to have a conversation with the Congresswoman about them,” McCarthy spokesman Mark Bednar told CNN.
