House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Republicans should be considered “enemies of the state” because they are helping President Trump interfere in the 2020 presidential election.
During an interview with MSNBC on Monday, Pelosi once again pushed the debunked conspiracy theory that Trump worked with Russia to win the election in 2016, and accused the GOP of helping him do the same thing once again.
“The Russians were there and they are there now 24-7, trying to interfere in our election. But they’re not the only ones. We take an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic, and sadly, the domestic enemies to our voting system and our honoring our Constitution are right at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue with their allies in the Congress of the United States,” Pelosi said.
Pelosi’s accusation even earned a gasp from MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin, who replied, “Wow!”
The California Democrat then floated another conspiracy theory that alleged Trump is working with the U.S. Postal Service to suppress Democratic voters.
“They’re doing everything they can, suppress the vote with your actions, scare people, intimidate by saying law enforcement will be there, uh, diminish the role of the postal system and all of this, it’s really actually shameful,” she claimed.
“Enemies of the state,” Pelosi repeated.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., pointed out the similarity between Pelosi’s comments and Hillary Clinton’s infamous “deplorables” insult.
In 2016, they called you “Deplorables.”

And Rep. Steve Scalise, R-La., who was shot by a deranged leftist in 2017, reminded voters that this kind of “disgusting” rhetoric can lead to actual violence.

“Enemies of the state and all of this — that’s the hyper-charged language that led a gunman trying to kill every Republican on the ball field,” Scalise told Fox News. “Why don’t we talk about issues? They don’t want to talk about issues.”
