Poll: DeSantis Beating Trump in Iowa

(Ezekiel Loseke, Headline USA) Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has a significant lead over President Trump in Iowa and is tied with him in New Hampshire for the 2024 Republican nomination, despite Trump’s significant nationwide lead.

The two surveys were conducted by Public Opinion Strategies from March 21 to March 23, and were exclusively obtained by Axios.

In Iowa, 45% of voters said they would vote for DeSantis. Only 37% said they would back President Trump, according to The Hill.

In New Hampshire both candidates earned 39% of the respondents’ approval.

However, 48% of New Hampshire respondents thought DeSantis would be better at taking on Joe Biden, while 46% said Trump was better for a showdown with Biden.

In Iowa, 54% of voters said DeSantis would be better at taking on Biden, with only 44 choosing Trump for the fight with Sleepy Joe.

These survey results were based on a head to head competition between DeSantis and Trump. When the field included Niki Hailey and Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida’s Governor then tied President Trump in Iowa and trailed him by 12 in New Hampshire.

Both DeSantis and Trump received 39 percent of support from respondents in a head-to-head primary election in New Hampshire.

When asked which GOP candidate is better suited to defeat Biden, 48 percent of New Hampshire voters said DeSantis, while 46 percent said Trump.

Fifty-four percent of respondents in Iowa view DeSantis as the better candidate to take on Biden, compared to 44 percent who chose Trump.

DeSantis is also crushing the rest of the field in the favorable and unfavorable ratings among Republicans.

In Iowa, 81% of Republicans reported having a positive view of DeSantis with only 11% reporting having a negative view of him.

Comparatively, in Iowa, Trump had a 74% favorable rating among Republicans with 24% having an unfavorable view of Trump.

Meanwhile in New Hampshire 77% of Republicans had a positive view of DeSantis while 15 had an unfavorable view.

Comparatively, Trump had a 69% favorable rating with a 29% unfavorable rating in New Hampshire.

This poll is an anomaly. President Trump currently enjoys a 15.1% national lead according to The Real Clear Politics Average.
