Pelosi Shredded on Twitter for Quoting Bible to Support Ukraine Aide

'Pelosi quoting the Bible out of one side of her mouth and supporting abortion out of the other side of her mouth... '

(Chris Parker, Headline USA) House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is facing significant backlash on Twitter after attempting to use a biblical quote to support the Democrats’ $40 billion Ukraine aid package, according to the Daily Wire.

Pelosi referenced a quote from Matthew 25:35 when stating, “When you’re home thinking about [what the aid package] is all about, just think about ‘when I was hungry, you fed me’ from the Gospel of Matthew.”

The quote struck many as oddly surprising, coming from one of the most prominent figures of a party that recently passed a resolution against religious liberty. And the irony was not lost on Twitter.

Another tweet pointed out the duplicity of Pelosi’s sentiment, asking “Why is Pelosi comparing giving weapons to a country to feeding the poor in the bible?”

But that’s not the only problem inherit in Pelosi’s statement. Yes, the Bible encourages us to feed the poor, but not at the expense of our own: “Certainly if anyone does not provide for those who are his own, and especially for those who are members of his household, he has disowned the faith and is worse than a person without faith” (1 Timothy 5:8).

That could explain why one tweet encouraged Pelosi to study the Bible first:

“Pelosi needs to actually read the Bible. We aren’t feeding Ukraine. They are sending a 💩 load of unrestricted $$ to Ukraine while Americans need help at home. Vote that hag out of office!”

Fifty-seven Republicans opposed the measure, which extends Biden’s original proposal by $7 billion, on the basis that a crippling national debt can’t afford such a massive hit – especially with a possible recession looming in the near future.

Several Twitter users also compared Pelosi’s quote with the slew of proposals she’s supported that seem to contradict her self-proclaimed religious beliefs. For example, she attacked religious liberties as recently as two years ago.

And of course, there’s Pelosi’s staunch defense of killing unborn babies, despite claiming to be a Catholic.
